Avalon (EP) - Maduk

Liquicity Records, which targets young talent in the Drum & Bass scene, has a plethora of new artists under its wing at the moment. Maduk, a 21-year-old producer from Amsterdam, is one of Liquicity's main attractions. His blend of trancey melodies and typical D&B bass lines is rivaled by few in D&B production. (Liquicity seems to sign a lot of people like this.) This two-song EP was released at the end of October, but I just heard it for the first time and fell in love. I'll also post a couple other things that are featured on his SoundCloud (linked above). Happy holidays, and enjoy!

Editor's Cut Vol. 1

There is a lot of great music out there, but not enough time to write about all of it. For that reason, I've decided to begin a series of posts entitled "Editor's Cut" in which I post a handful of similar songs each time without much of a description at all. No bias—just your own judgment on each song. So without further ado, I introduce to you the first installment in the Editor's Cut series. Happy holidays, and enjoy!

Bloom (Jamie XX Rework) - Radiohead

This three-song remix EP of Radiohead's "Bloom," "Separator," and "Lotus Flower" came out mid-November. The Jamie xx remix of "Bloom" is by far the best song in this EP in my opinion, but the remix of "Lotus Flower" is pretty interesting as well, so I'll add a link for that too. Anyway, enjoy the captivating melodies of Jamie xx and Radiohead.

Paris (Aeroplane Remix) - Friendly Fires

This song has been a favorite of mine for a few months. Some people to whom I have shown the song have asked me about it, so I thought it'd be a good one to post. Before tonight, I had never really payed any attention to Aeroplane, the artist behind remixing Friendly Fires' "Paris." Little did I know, visiting Aeroplane's SoundCloud is like finding a gold mine. The Belgian producer has a few of his songs as well as an hour-long mix for nearly each month for the last couple years. And the best part? It's all freely downloadable. I'm also including a mashup done by Aeroplane of his own remix of "Paris" and Flight Facilities' "Crave You" entitled "I Crave Paris."

Bangarang (EP) - Skrillex

Skrillex's new Bangarang EP has been highly anticipated for months now, but alas—the wait is over. "Skrill" (reference to the song "Kyoto") released the seven-song EP today on Beatport. The last fifteen seconds of "Bangarang" offer a somewhat humorous relief from the distinctly Skrillexy heavy synth lines in each of the songs. I really enjoy a majority of the songs on it; a couple are questionable, but it's Skrillex—you have to give him credit anyway just because he's so talented. Without further ado, Bangarang EP by Skrillex.
I encourage you to support Skrillex and buy the EP on Beatport for $17, but if that's not your style, you can download all these songs individually here on musipus or search for a download link for the entire EP online—Skrillex himself wrote today on his Facebook:
"happy holidays just like I promised.... just like i always say, go pirate it if you don't have money..i just want you to have it... or you can buy it.. either way I'll love you"
If that doesn't make you love the man, I don't know what will. Also, the song I previously posted entitled "Breathe" by Skrillex is actually called "Summit" and is featured on this EP. My apologies for the mistake.

We Are Now Connected - Mord Fustang

Mord Fustang has been high on my list of favorite artists ever since he released his single "The Electric Dream" last year. The moment I heard it, I noticed something noticeably different about his music. Well, Mr. Fustang has continued to produce distinctly catchy music, and in his most recent drop "We Are Now Connected," he does not disappoint. I'll also include a couple more of my favorites by him, "The Electric Dream" and "In The Air."  You should definitely check him out if you have any interest in captivating music. Enjoy!

We Own The Sky (Datsik Remix) - M83

Datsik is a dubstep producer/DJ from British Columbia. Known predominantly for his filthy, dark-sounding drops and wobbles, Datsik has grown to enormity in the last couple of years. In 2009 alone, he had seven #1 singles on Beatport. This song's calm melody combines with Datsik's signature smooth wobbles for a little afternoon refreshment (or whenever).

AraabMuzik - Electronic Dream (Album)

AraabMuzik has been producing hip-hop/rap songs for quite some time, but he's only recently begun integrating his signature drum lines with more electronic-type sounds. His new album Electronic Dream does exactly that—captures elements of both electronic music as well as rap—, which provides for a very enjoyable listening experience. You can download the entire album here, but I've included three of my favorite songs off the album as well. Enjoy!

Paper Towels in Motion - Kap Slap

Today we have a mashup from a college student who somehow manages to find time between classes to DJ and produce as well. Kap Slap released his three-song EP entitled Kaskade Found Love a little over a month ago, but he unveiled "Paper Towels In Motion" individually a little before the entire EP. He blends sounds from Deadmau5, La Roux, Skrillex, a comedic YouTube video, and more to create a fine fusion that will undoubtedly have you waiting for more. You can download the entire EP here. Enjoy!

Breathe - Skrillex

This one has been emanating from my computer all day. Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) has certainly established himself as a diety of dubstep, but with "Breathe" he seems to have departed from his usual speaker-shattering, bassy drops. This variation from the usual is definitely evidence of Sonny's maturing style, but we have yet to see whether it is permanent. In the meantime, enjoy this parcel of excellence.

The Suburbs (Mr. Little Jeans Remix) - Arcade Fire

Mr. Little Jeans (aka Norwegian singer Monica Birkenes) released a remix of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" a few months ago, and the remix has gotten a lot of attention since then. To keep things short, it's awesome. There has also been an unofficial video released by a group called High 5 Collective that does music videos for songs they enjoy. It's quite nice as well.

Speak It - Harper Hero

This track by Harper Hero, an emerging producer out of Vancouver, is one of the most well-produced songs I've heard in a while. The drops are perfect, and the song gives off a super cool vibe. This young talent will not go unrecognized. Turn up your headphones, and give "Speak It" a listen!
